Hey Seth. My name's Chris and I'm the cra... yoohoo dealer around here. I run www.bricksonthedollar.com and am proud to be PA's largest aftermarket online LEGO seller. I don't really build, but I have an affinity for Blacktron I.

Hello! Steve here. I met Mike yesterday at the Lancaster Loyalty Days event. Very interesting group - never knew it existed!

Long time lego fan here. Mike, I figured out the ID of one of my first sets - it was the 956 auto chassis. I loved that kit! Also had the 948 go cart and the 955 crane. Wish I could find the parts and instructions to build that car again!

Steve

Welcome to PennLUG. If you are cool with digital instructions, Peeron.com has many old instructions for free. Discontinued parts can easily be bought on Bricklink.com. Several of PennLUG's members also run stores on Bricklink, so if you order from us, we bring the parts to a meeting, and you don't have to pay for shipping. Cool snail

Hi Steve,

I'm glad you were able to find the forum, especially since I only told you the web-site address.

Where do you live? Perhaps we could get together and I could show you some of the newer Technic stuff, including the outdoor RC cars.

Hi,
Bud here, father of two, amazing sons, 10 and 7 years old,. I've been saving and collecting Lego since I was young. Still have the sets from that era, as well as through the 80's, 90's and today. Love Technic, sculptures, Star Wars, Castle, and Trains. Favorite sets I own are: Star Destroyer 10030, Monorail Base 6991, and Technic Space Shuttle 8480 , just to name three.
My love of Lego, and my boys keeps me building. I'm looking forward to attending some meetings and meeting you guys. Thanks!

Welcome! There's four or five of us in Philly and a couple more in neighboring towns, so we have meetings out this way fairly often and, when we don't there's usually someone willing to carpool to make it easy. Looking forward to meeting you in person.

Hello all

Post  BrokeLegoCollector on Thu Aug 08, 2013 10:19 pm

My name is Mark I'm a toy addict.

I've been collecting action figures since the 90's.
I customize Marvel Super Heroes.
I just got into LEGO collecting and building MOCs 2 years ago.
Quite a lay off since I was a kid.

I presented my 1st MOC at this years Brickfair VA show (2013) and got a chance to meat some of the Lug members.
I hope to ask some of the experts here for power function tips in the near future.

Thanks

Greetings! My name is Aaron, and I currently live in Lebanon county, Pennsylvania. I'm 23 years old, and I've been a LEGO enthusiast since I was less than a year old. Right now I'm building a 10-wide scale replica of the Santa Fe Super Chief that I hope to be able to display at a convention sometime. The Philly Brick Fest looks like it would have been perfect for that, but I think it's too late for me to register.

Well hello there

Post  mwkloppe on Sun Feb 02, 2014 10:35 pm

Greetings all,
My name is Mike and like most people here, I have a been a life long fan of Legos. My favorite themes are modular buildings and the pirates of old. I also enjoy kits designed by Brickmania and have created several military models to include aircraft, bunkers and a gunboat. I am looking forward to meeting some members and sharing a few of my creations at the meeting in March. Feel free to contact me in the mean time. Until next time...

Regards,
Mike

Hello, I am Dan Fletcher. I was at the LUG meeting that just past. Hopefully I can make the next one as well. As some of the people on here I have a Brick Link store, Same as my name here, but with a space. I hope to build some MOCs as well as sell bricks. I only recently came out of my dark ages (in May). I collect what I like, no theme bias here.

Stopping by, saying hi

Post  Steve Jackson on Tue Mar 04, 2014 12:59 am

I'm Steve Jackson. Active member of Texas Brick Railroad; sent in my PennLUG dues to support the work going on here. I'm not that skilled a builder - my proudest achievement was getting a PennLUG-track-compatible curve and switch worked out - but I'm a longtime railfan as well as a LEGOholic, and a frothing enthusiast for public displays. Especially with trains in them. Traaaaiiiinnnnns . . .

I really like to go to train shows and display LEGO layouts that are just as pretty and dramatic as any HO or N scale exhibit they have. Motion. Landscaping. Logical flow between scenes. Multiple consists at once. Ballasted track. Hidden jokes. Grand curves.

Bare baseplates are eeeeeevil.

In non-brick life, I'm a game designer. Munchkin is my fault; blame me.

Hi Steve.

Welcome to PennLUG. I hope you get to display with us at a convention soon. Philly Brick Fest is in April, and Brickfair VA is in August. We will have huge layouts at both of these shows... and Brick Stanley and I would love to play another game with ya.

I hope your Lego collection survived the house flood you had, and that your new place has a good area to build in.

Mostly survived, anyway.

Post  Steve Jackson on Wed Mar 05, 2014 8:23 pm

Hi, KS! I will be at Brickworld - not the others - alas for the lack of a teleporting machine.

Most of the collection survived, and most of what didn't survive is still present but filthy (in many cases, I fear, not worth washing). My buildings and trees and ballasted track modules were all up high. Unfortunately, my Grand Curve sections, and all my rolling stock, were down low. Cleaning up the Grand Curve is just a matter of a lot of time with soft toothbrush and water, and it's under way. I haven't even taken the rolling stock out of the silt-caked boxes yet. It's not going to get any worse than it already is :/

Oh, and the snail you gave me is now part of the menagerie hiding in the swamp between the tracks on one of my curved modules!

From the West...

Post  randomdan on Sun Apr 06, 2014 4:26 pm

Hello all,

As you may have gathered from my username, I'm Dan. I hail from the Pittsburgh area where I'm an active member in the Steel City LUG. My main areas of interest are the space (with a heavy dose of monorail), pirate, and castle themes.

Model railroading was a big part of my hobby life as a teenager (bookended by Lego as a child and now again as an adult), but trains are still a big part of my life as I'm currently a software engineer at Ansaldo STS (you probably know them as Union Switch & Signal). I work on a dedicated team supporting CSX's dispatching operations.
