New, geographically inconvenient Lego fan

New, geographically inconvenient Lego fan

Post  DavidM on Sat Jun 30, 2018 9:55 am

Hello all, my name is David and I live in northern Virginia. Cale and I met at Brickfair VA last year, and I was occasionally active on BMR last fall. My interest is in trains, especially scale-sized steam locomotives I could never afford in O-scale.

I mention geography because, honestly, it's hard to see myself making three PennLUG events in a year. However, my interest in Lego trains aligns more with PennLUG's style than WAMALTC's; larger, longer trains that do best on wider curves. I'd like to know if PennLUG plans to bring their full layout to Brickfair VA this year. If so, might I "exhibit" (i.e. run trains) with you? I am, of course, more than happy to help set up and take down.

Best regards,

David

Cale is really excited about going to the NMRA National Train Show in Kansas City the following week, so the club is focusing on that as our next big train show instead of BFVA. KC has already started making plans to join in WAMALTC's display instead this year, and I'll probably do the same.

I'm unclear on whether anyone beyond the three of us is planning on heading down. My understanding is that the rest of the people who are heavily active with the town/train layout aren't planning on going this time around.

In that case, I'm glad I asked. I'll scale my MOC plans accordingly. Thank you for replying, Danny.
