Cafe Corner Hotel modding

Post  Steve Jackson on Thu Apr 16, 2015 3:39 am

At the New Braunfels show, the Cafe Corner hotel was a 4-story building, because I brought a floor to add to Will's set. Looked good.

The question is - how tall can this building gets before it looks silly? I've seen a picture of an insanely high one. Not trying to get insanely high. But has anyone tried more than five stories?

Also, imho, it needs windows in back, and maybe balconies, if it's going to be built tall.

(If you were doing it as a MEGA display, I can imagine giving it a one-or two-story center section, with a tower on each side, but now I am just raving.)

Also: The "Hotel" sign really annoys me, because from one side it reads backwards. To keep the look of the sign andmake it read properly both ways, you'd need to use only letters that are symmetrical on the vertical axis: as capitals, that's AHIMOTUVWXY. The best hotel names I see from this are MAXIM and AMITY.

I can also get VOMIT and OVUM. And YOMAMA. But I don't think so.

I think much over 5 floors it would be a good idea to add more bases as well. It could be neat as a 2x2 baseplate block of buildings. I'm pretty sure I've seen it that way somewhere.
