Re: The Hobbit Movie Event

Post-mortem: Only three people showed up for The Hobbit at 14:50, so "plan using the forum" wasn't entirely successful. Why not? We mixed event-specific "who? when? where?" with general-procedure "how"; response/turnaround is slow; and it's easy for careless writing and reading to cause confusion. Might I suggest that next time:

A. Use the Facebook "event" mechanism, which has RSVPs.
B. Use this forum:
1. Propose an event at a specific time and place.
2. Collect support or counter-proposals.
3. Get names and phone numbers (probably through the separate club membership list).
4. Phone to confirm.

FWIW, the KoP Plaza was mobbed, and the LEGO Store was very busy (but not maximally); the UA theater was busy (but not parking lot-maxed), and the IMAX showing was nearly full. The yellow non-folding polarized spectacles for IMAX 3D pinch the nose and temples, and if you're not seated in the sweet spot, the lower frame will intrude into your vision; IMHO, the Real D black folding specs are more comfortable. The trailers (Jack the Giant Killer, Oz the Great and Powerful, Jurassic Park 3D, Star Trek: Into Darkness) were extremely loud, but the sound settled down during the movie. The HFR felt odd during rapid camera movements; vertical movement was dizzying (but that might apply to all IMAX, not just 3D or HFR); in general, the quality of the footage felt more like "BBC TV" than "movie" -- not bad but different.

Re: The Hobbit Movie Event

Everything was actually going smooth until the last few days. Things for some reason got very wishy washy especially with moving AoW. Also I guess I misread one post as the movie was sold out. Probably not a good thing to even hint at when expecting people to show up. That lost 2 people right there. I think from now on we need to pick a date/time and just stick with it, if you go, fantastic, if not, well too bad. I know the date got changed at least 4 times. I think we need to realize that doing a group activity like this, we can't cater to everyone. There needs to be a majority rules. Other suggestion is smaller groups. I know of 2 or 3 of us already are planning another Hobbit day. Once there is a confirmed date, I will post it on FaceBook.
